This week, on May 15, secondary school students will also take the optimal level exam of the Latvian language and the higher level exam of the Latvian language and literature, as well as the higher level exam of culture and art on May 17.
The 9th grade students will start the state examination session on May 22 with an exam in English, German or French.
In order to pass the exam, both primary and secondary school graduates will need to score at least 15% this school year.
In order to be able to take higher level exams, students must meet the access conditions. They must be rated with at least four points. More detailed information on the content and scope of the exam access materials will be available in the national test programs on the VISC websites at the beginning of the second semester.
Also this year, the 11th grade student can take the exam at the optimal level. If a student does not obtain the minimum grade in the optimal level exam, he may continue his education in the next grade, and this is not a reason to deduct from high school. If the student takes an exam again in the 12th grade, the numbers of all issued certificates will be written in the transcript.
The school year for 9th grade students will end on June 14, 2024, while for 12th grade students – on June 21.
