In a statement to MAP on the sidelines of the preparatory meetings for the 33rd Arab Summit scheduled for Thursday in the Kingdom of Bahrain, Mr. Khattabi indicated that inter-Arab trade remains limited despite the efforts made to promote them with a rate not exceeding the 12%.

In this sense, he expressed the wish to see the draft resolutions, which will be presented within the framework of this Summit, result in concrete measures to strengthen partnership opportunities, accelerate the integration process and overcome structural constraints. .

Mr. Khattabi also emphasized the need to put in place coherent strategies promoting economic integrity and sustainable development, in line with an ambitious vision for the future of the Arab region, the aim being to propel it indeed in an international context marked by rapid changes and unprecedented competitiveness between States at different levels.

He also noted that the Arab Summit is being held against a backdrop of major challenges and real expectations in a region which remains one of the most vulnerable to poverty, terrorism, extremism and food insecurity. and water, in light of the effects of climate change, which have been exacerbated over the last decade due to several factors including precariousness, political and social instability in addition to regional and international geopolitical tensions.

And to conclude that the Palestinian question will occupy an important place during the discussions within the framework of the Manama Summit and will be at the top of its agenda, taking into account the need to intensify actions in favor of this legitimate cause and to win international support to achieve a just and lasting settlement based on the two-state solution and the establishment of a Palestinian state with Al Quds East as its capital, in order to establish security and stability in the region.
