Former colleagues, clubs and the Lithuanian Football Federation (LFF) spoke about the loss of the legendary man.
“In Memoriam maestro Danise”. They say that people are alive as long as they remain in our memory. I can definitely promise that.
Back in 1991-1992. I had to compete together with the maestro in Vilnius Panery. A player of extraordinary talent, I subjectively think that there were such units in Lithuania. I remember receiving the ball with his back to you, you think who will be here and how he will manage, and Danisė cuts a jeweled pass between the defenders with one touch. I stand and watch without understanding anything.
Danise shouts why I don’t run, I tell him, because you had your back to me, I have no idea that you will make the pass. Danise says – young man, you just run and ask for the ball, I will make the pass for you, don’t be afraid, I see. I still don’t understand how, but Danise saw the game and read several moves ahead. Maestro. And after the match, more than one cold and noble glass was raised, a cigarette was smoked. I thank fate that I got to know this person and compete together.
Rest in peace. You will always be alive in my memory,” former football player, referee and UEFA inspector Paulius Malžinskas wrote on Facebook.
His former team Vilnius “Žalgiris”, where S. Danisevičius spent a good decade (seasons 1976-1986), also spoke about the loss of the former football player.
“Sad news: Stanislovas Danisevičius, one of the most prominent Žalgiris players of all time, left Anapilin in his 67th year. Rest in peace.
Our condolences to the family and friends.
From Panevėžys, Stasys, or just Danisė, played in the Žalgiris team for ten years (1976-1979, 1981-1986 seasons). He played a total of 288 matches, during which he scored 34 goals. In the defensive position, he stood out with his technique and excellent passes.
In 1979 and 1984, he was elected the best Lithuanian football player.
1990-1992 headed the Žalgiris football school, later the Paneris club, worked as a coach,” it is written on the Vilnius “Žalgiris” Facebook channel.
“We welcome the beginning of the week with sad news – the legendary Lithuanian football player and coach Stasys Danisevičius has left Annapilin in his 67th year.
Rest in peace, legend”, the LFF also expressed their condolences to the legend.
