The discussion of the issues of its own agenda, in a difficult situation for Greece and Europe, is sought by the New Left, which continues with excursions, events and tours to inform society about its positions and proposals.

On Monday, May 13, at 7:00 p.m., the presentation of the MEP candidates from Epirus Filimona Karamitsou and Olga Nassi will take place at an open event in Litharitsia. At the event, the vice-president of the European Parliament and MEP of the Eurogroup of the Left, Dimitris Papadimoulis, and the candidate for MEP, Gabriel Sakellaridis, will speak, while the MP of the New Left in Ioannina, Meropi Tzoufi, will give a speech.
“It is very important for us, because it is a good opportunity for our fellow citizens to get to know the positions and proposals of the New Left for Greece and Europe,” said the representative of the Press Office of Kostas Karavidas, stressing that the upcoming European elections are a difficult political battle, in an extremely unfavorable situation, both for Greece, where the dissatisfaction with the Mitsotakis policy has not found political representation, and for Europe, where the extreme right is sleepwalking and advancing, as he mentioned. “The New Left has its own positive political agenda, we are not content with protests and discontent. We know it’s not popular, but in an era dominated by communication shows and post-political gimmicks, the solution to the onslaught of conservative policies is and must be politics,” he stressed. He added that the party’s European ballot paper has qualitative political characteristics.
On behalf of the temporary coordinator of the New Left of Ioannina, Antonia Zerva referred to the far-right forces that have emerged in Europe, noting that the stakes of the elections are the debate on the real problems of the European states and not a poll on the strength of the parties, while criticizing New Democracy’s policy on issues such as Tempi, wiretapping, the rule of law and working conditions.
The executive of the New Left, Christos Mantas, referred to the Palestinian issue and the proposal of the head of the New Left, Alexis Haritsis, to the parties of the democratic arc, to discuss the issue in Parliament, to convene the Council of Political Leaders and, in coordination with other countries, to attempt to put pressure on the government for the recognition of the Palestinian state, based on the unanimous decision of the Parliament in 2015. “And of course, our country should disengage immediately and the frigate Hydra should return”, he noted, emphasizing the immediate risk of extermination of the Palestinian people.
