You don’t have to change your hair products
There is still a strong myth that in order to have less greasy hair, you need to change your hair care products more often. According to the beautician, it does not affect the skin of the hair.
“If you find products that work well for your scalp and hair, be happy and don’t rush to find alternatives when they run out. So far, there is no evidence that the hair becomes resistant to the effects of the products. Therefore, change them only if you do not see a positive effect after using them for a while, and your hair just dries out faster or becomes even more greasy.
And if you’re satisfied with the products, but you still want a change – try to play between the products of your favorite line, for example, try nourishing ones instead of moisturizing ones”, advises the beauty specialist.
Head washing – once a week
How often do you wash your hair? This is the first question that a beautician asks people who visit pharmacies for a consultation. According to her, it is this answer that can dictate what should be changed in the hair care routine.
“If a person says that they wash their hair every day, it can be assumed that they are using the wrong hair care products or they are using them incorrectly. However, no matter what the means, the more often we wash our hair, the more oil the scalp produces, thus fighting dryness.
It is best to shampoo your hair once a week, and so that the scalp has time to get used to the changes, at first shampoo your hair every second day, then every third, and thus increase the intervals of days. Your body will adapt and start not excreting so much fatty secretion,” says A. Vareikienė.
Touch your hair with your hands as little as possible
The beauty specialist tells us that not only care products, but also our habits can lead to stronger hair greasiness. According to her, one of them is frequent touching of hair with hands.
“It can be a real joy to run your hand easily through soft and clean hair. However, the repetitive action of touching the hair and scalp with our hands can stimulate sebum production. Therefore, in order to enjoy less hair rubbing, you should start changing this habit and try to stroke and touch your hair as rarely as possible. In this way, you will not only be happy with the roots of your hair getting greasy more slowly, but also you will not distribute this fat over the entire length of your hair”, advises A. Vareikienė.
Dry shampoos
The beauty specialist does not hide that dry shampoos are currently experiencing a complete renaissance. According to her, over the past 20 years, their composition and quality have changed drastically.
“If in the past dry shampoos gave the hair a grayish tint, today they not only cover the hair beautifully, but can also be useful as hair styling products. Although the instructions for some dry shampoos recommend rubbing the sprayed hair with a towel, it is better to choose to rinse the hair with a warm stream of the dryer. In addition, if you want to use dry shampoo as a styling agent, look for corn or rice flour in its composition, which will not only shape the hairstyle, but also protect the hair from drying out and give it shine,” advises A. Vareikienė.
Skin peeling – once a month
A beauty specialist advises to do scalp peeling at least once a month, which will help to restore the condition of both skin and hair.
“Skin peeling helps regulate the secretion of the sebaceous glands, which makes the hair less greasy. It is also worth noting that in the long run, various cosmetic product residues can remain in our hair, which makes the hair lose its vitality and lightness, making it look more greasy.
Scalp peeling can remove product residues and other various impurities from the environment, and your hair will regain its lost vitality and shine,” says A. Vareikienė.
