The Institute for Road Safety announced on their Facebook page that they had assigned a team of road safety auditors, designers and road engineers to check for irregularities in the organization of traffic on three metropolitan boulevards – Patriarch Evtimii Blvd., Vitosha Blvd. and Blvd. “Fritjof Nansen”. The inspection started today. The aim is to end speculation about the illegality of the changes.
“The new organization of the movement was launched two weeks ago, and we witnessed mutual accusations in the media of responsible institutions,” the publication said.
“The Road Traffic Act obliges the “Traffic Police” to monitor the condition of the road and issue warnings or orders to the owners or to the administration that manages the road, as well as to the company maintaining the road section to eliminate malfunctions on them.”
“Two weeks since a new organization of the movement was launched through the media, responsible institutions are being blamed. At the same time, so-called experts are making subjective conclusions serving both camps politically. We have witnessed how the Minister of Internal Affairs through the media disapproves of the organization of the movement in the area. In at the same time, the mayor of the city of Sofia informed us that a representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs had signed the project for the new organization of traffic. CO, but the procedure required once again to agree with the same official. At the same time, Art. 165 para. 1 item 3 of the Road Traffic Act obliges the traffic police to monitor the condition of the road and road accessories and issue written warnings, warning letters or orders to the owners or to the administration managing the road and to the company maintaining the road section, for the elimination of established malfunctions on them”.
A check by the Institute for Road Safety shows that at this time such an order, a warning letter about detected irregularities in the existing new traffic organization, has not been issued by the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
