Pyongyang accused US allies today of increased surveillance of North Korea, disguised as monitoring violations of UN sanctions against the DPRK.
North Korea will take the necessary measures to protect its sovereignty and security, the North Korean news agency KCTA reported.
Pyongyang is calling on the UK, Canada, Germany, France, New Zealand and Australia to immediately stop their “blatant military intervention in the Asia-Pacific region”, which they cover up with the excuse of monitoring compliance with UN sanctions, a North Korean statement said. South Korea and the United Kingdom conducted joint naval patrols in waters near the Korean Peninsula in April to enforce UN Security Council sanctions resolutions against North Korea, South Korea’s defense ministry said at the time.
North Korean leader Kim Jong-un visited weapons production plants on Saturday and yesterday, KCTA reported today. Kim was accompanied on the inspection by senior North Korean officials, including his influential sister Kim Yo-chen.
