Xi made the remarks during a meeting with his French counterpart, Emmanuel Macron, at the Elysée Palace.
The Chinese president expressed his joy at making his third state visit to France on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and France.
The two sides should remain faithful to the spirit that guided the establishment of their diplomatic ties, namely independence, mutual understanding, foresight and mutual benefit, and enrich it with the new characteristics of the new era, Xi said.
The two sides should pursue mutual understanding and jointly promote peaceful coexistence in a colorful world, stick to far-sightedness and work together for an equal and orderly multipolar world, he said.

Xi stressed that China is willing to maintain strategic communication with France, respect the core interests of each country, consolidate the strategic stability of bilateral relations, tap the vast potential of mutually beneficial cooperation, and facilitate growth as well as the balance of bilateral trade.
China is willing to import more quality products from France, promote more practical results of the “French farm to Chinese table” mechanism, and hopes that France will export more high-tech and high-tech products to China. added value, Xi said.
The two sides should improve the articulation of development strategies, deepen cooperation in traditional fields such as aerospace and aviation, strengthen cooperation in nuclear energy, innovation and finance, and expand cooperation in emerging areas such as green energy, smart manufacturing, biomedicine and artificial intelligence, he recommended.
China has fully liberalized access to its manufacturing sector and will accelerate market access in services including telecommunications and health, Xi said.
“We want more French companies to invest in China”he noted, adding that China hopes that France will provide a healthy business environment and stable development prospects for Chinese enterprises to invest and cooperate in France.
Xi stressed that as major countries with rich culture, China and France should accelerate people-to-people and cultural exchanges, continue to hold various activities within the framework of Sino-French Year of Cultural Tourism, and actively promote cooperation in the protection and restoration of cultural heritage and twinning of French and Chinese world heritage sites.
Welcoming more French friends to China, Xi announced that China will extend the visa waiver policy for short-stay visits to China from twelve countries, including France, until the end of the year 2025.
China also hopes to welcome more than 10,000 French students over the next three years and double the number of European youth exchanges in China, Xi said.
It supports France’s efforts to ensure the successful organization of the Paris Olympic Games and will send a delegation of high-level athletes to France, assured the Chinese president.
China is willing to deepen cooperation with France in climate change, biodiversity and other areas, support France in successfully hosting the United Nations Ocean Conference, and encourage twinning of national parks and nature reserves of the two countries, according to him.
China is also ready to strengthen dialogue and communication with France in areas such as artificial intelligence governance and international financial system reform, Xi added.
