During the past month, an undercover investigation has been conducted in the central unit of the SJ district regarding the investigation of an assault incident, participation in a prohibited gathering and damage to property from a racist motive that occurred on January 24, 22 in the village of Hawara in Samaria.

As you may recall, the incident began when a convoy of about 30 vehicles drove towards the Yitzhar hills in what they called a “prisoner liberation convoy” – a demonstration by the residents of the hills, similar to the convoys that the Arabs do with the release of their prisoners.

When the convoy arrived in Hawara, near the Samaria IDF, the villagers began throwing stones at the vehicles. The boys got out of the vehicles and began throwing stones at the rioters.

Among the detainees – a minor

As part of the investigation of the incident, a variety of actions were carried out and this morning (Wednesday) the investigation became public with the arrest of 17 suspects (including a minor) residents of Judea and Samaria, Jerusalem and the north of the country.

The suspects are now being taken for questioning in the central unit of the district and depending on the development of the investigation it will be decided whether to bring some of them to a hearing in their case in court.

The brother of one of the detainees told Srugim: “These are net show arrests that have a dual purpose: to show the far-left organizations working hard against the settlers, and to teach the few Jews who are still left with their heads held high and Jewish pride that if you are beaten you will run away or reach the other cheek. And return one epic dose.

This morning, the State of Israel denied its citizens the basic right to self-defense. “

Immediately upon receiving the report of the incident, the district commander, Superintendent Uzi Levy, ordered the appointment of a special investigation team in the district’s central unit to investigate the incident and instructed to make use of all capabilities and means available to them.
