Price growth slowed down in Russia

Inflation in Russia on February 5-11 was 0.13%, Rosstat reported. A week earlier, prices rose by 0.29%. Since the beginning of the year, inflation has reached 1.29%.

What went up the most in a week:

  • fruits and vegetables – 1.6%;
  • fruit and berry preserves for baby food – 0.8%;
  • vodka – 0.7%;
  • semi-smoked and boiled-smoked sausages, pasteurized milk, pasta, butter – 0.6%;
  • sugar, boiled sausages, sterilized milk, sour cream, cottage cheese, rennet cheeses, powdered milk formulas for baby food – 0.5%.

Canned meat for baby food (0.5%), chicken eggs, millet (0.4%), frozen fish (0.3%), pork, sausages, sausages and chicken meat (0.2%) fell in price over the week. There was an increase in prices for hygiene items and essential goods: toothpaste (0.6%), laundry soap, washing powders, matches (0.5%) and toothbrushes (0.3%). Vacuum cleaners have risen in price by 0.9%, passenger cars – by 0.4%.

Tariffs for bus fares increased by 0.2%, for trams – by 0.1%. A trip to Turkey fell by 6.1%.

At the end of last year, the Central Bank predicted that annual inflation would drop to 4.0–4.5% as early as 2022 and would remain at this level in the future. However, in February the forecast was changed, now the Bank of Russia expects annual inflation to be 5.0–6.0%.
