L’Golden bear at the Berlin Film Festival 2022 went to the Spanish film Alcarras from Carla Simnpoetic exploration of rural life of a family, where traditions collide with a evolving future and the collective identity I’m at risk. The 35-year-old director of Barcelona starting from his personal history to build a cinematic one, choosing non-professional actors who speak the Catalan dialect. I chose these interpreters to make this story real – he explained -. The Fipresci jury instead awarded Leonora Farewell from Paolo Tavianiin competition, with this motivation: Led by free spirit of the genius of Pirandello, the director mixes poetry, melancholy, but also irony, fantasy and joy to tell us the mysteries of life, death and memory. The director will receive the prize of the international criticism tonight, Wednesday 16 February, at 7.30 pm, at the Hackescher Hofe cinema, giving up the official ceremony at the Berlinale Palast which begins at 7 pm.
