P.S.

After the collapse of the Roman Empire, the first information about the emergence of new cities on the territory of present-day Germany dates back to the beginning of the 8th century, most in Thuringia and Hesse, some in Bavaria. Among them are Arnstadt (704), which was considered the oldest city of the GDR, as well as Freising (724), Bad Hersfeld (736), Erfurt (742, photo) and Fulda (744), founded during the Christianization of these lands.
