As discussions continue in Vienna between the powers and Iran over the Americans’ return to the nuclear deal, Iran’s supreme leader comes out with a statement: Iran will need nuclear energy.
“The world is becoming more and more reliant on nuclear energy every day,” Ayatollah Ali Khamenei wrote on Twitter. “We will have an urgent need for nuclear energy for peaceful purposes in the near future. If we do not think about it today, tomorrow will be too late and we will be left empty-handed.”
The world is becoming increasingly reliant on #nuclear energy every day. We too will be in urgent need of peaceful nuclear energy sooner or later. If we do not think about this today, tomorrow will be too late and our hands will be empty then.

Meanwhile, the Americans and Iranians say the talks are nearing an end, which raises hopes between the parties that they are on their way to signing an agreement.
Iran’s chief negotiator Ali Bagri said on Wednesday that the parties were “closer than ever” to reaching an agreement.
In Washington, State Department spokesman Ned Price said the next few days would determine whether a return to the agreement would be on the agenda.
“Our assessment is that we are in the final stages. As I said before, this is a complex negotiation when the key players are involved,” Price said.
