Bangalore: Udupi Muslim students have filed a case in the High Court against the ban on wearing hijab in educational institutions in Karnataka.

The case came up for hearing on the 5th day yesterday in the presence of Chief Justice Ritu Raj Awasthi, Justices JM Kashi and Krishna Dixit.

Senior advocates Devadath Kamath and Ravi Varma Kumar, appearing for the Muslim students, concluded their argument. Attorney General Prabuling Navatki asked for an opportunity to respond. The next stage of the case Investigation Postponed to Friday.

Meanwhile, Dr. Abdul Mehrik, a doctor from Hubli, has filed a petition in the High Court stating, “The Holy Quran requires Muslim students to wear the hijab during Ramadan fasting and on Fridays. Hijab should be allowed to be worn during that period in a way that respects religious beliefs. ”
