Road in Bangalore will be named after the late Kannada actor Puneet Rajkumar

The Bangalore Metropolitan Palike (BBMP) has announced that the road in Bangalore will be named after the late Kannada actor Puneet Rajkumar. The ring road from Nayandahalli junction on Mysore Road to Vega City Mall on Bannerghatta Road will be named as ‘Sri Puneet Rajkumar Road’, the Bangalore Metropolitan Palike said in a statement. The final decision in this regard was taken at the meeting held in December 2021.

A press release was issued on December 29 and 31 inviting suggestions. During this period, members of eight organizations collected more than 700 signatures from residents of eight areas in support of naming the road ‘Sri Puneet Rajkumar Road’. Puneet Rajkumar, the youngest son of legendary Kannada actor Dr Rajkumar, has died at the age of 46 from a heart attack. Puneeth was known as the Power Star, one of the biggest names in the Kannada film industry. He has two children.

Puneet’s performances in Vasantha Geeta (1980), Bhagyavantha (1981), Chalisuva Modagalu (1982), Double Stars (1983) and Bettada Hoo (1985) were especially praised. Puneet won the National Award for Best Child Actor for his role as Appu in Bettada Hoo.

Puneet made his acting debut in the 2002 film Appu. Appu (2002), Abhi (2003), Veera Kannadiga (2004), Maurya (2004), Akash (2005), Arasu (2007), Milana (2007), Vamsi (2008), Ram (2009), Jackie (2010) ), Hoodugaru (2011) and Rajakumara (2017). Puneet was one of the most popular and highest paid actors in Kannada cinema. He died on October 29, 2021 following a heart attack.
