It has been five years since the actress was attacked. Five years later, the case is still pending. In the fifth year since the actress was attacked, the Woman in Cinema Collective has been asking the government and society about women’s safety.
In a post on social media, WCC asks what happened five years after the attack on the actress and what the government and other authorities have done to prevent it from happening again.

The attack on the young actress took place on February 17, 2017 near Angamaly, Ernakulam. The actress was abducted after her car was stopped on her way to Ernakulam from Thrissur.
On the same day, the police arrested the accused Pulsar Suni on the basis of a complaint lodged by the actress.
Pulsar Suni’s attempt to contact Dileep from jail led to a turning point in the investigation. Dileep was arrested by the police on July 10, 2017. Dileep was released on bail after 85 days in jail. Later dramatic developments took place in the case.
There are 20 witnesses in the case. However, based on the revelation of director Balachandra Kumar, further investigation was started in the case. A new case has been registered against six persons, including Dileep and his brother Anoop, for revealing that Balachandra Kumar had conspired to endanger the investigating officers in the case.
The accused in the case, including Dileep, were interrogated by the Crime Branch for 11 hours every three days. The accused, including Dileep, were on the verge of arrest but the High Court granted them bail.
The probe team has demanded that the trial be adjourned as the case against the actress is currently under investigation. Dileep has also asked the court to cancel the probe. He has been fighting for his life for more than five years without getting justice.
