by time news

Land Minister SM Chandrasena has said the government has no intention of seeking the International Monetary Fund to resolve the economic crisis.

He said at an event in Anuradhapura that he acknowledged the country’s economic impact in the post-Corona period.

He further commented,

“The government is focused on resolving the crisis. The Governor of the Central Bank has also officially advised that the current situation can be overcome through alternative means.

As the International Monetary Fund (IMF) is seen as a mechanism to put the government in crisis, UNP leader Ranil Wickremesinghe continues to urge the government to seek the IMF.

He noted that most of the ministers had pointed out during the cabinet meeting that accepting the terms of the International Monetary Fund would affect the civil servants as well as the functioning of the government.
