If it is above 50,000 riyals, the source should be disclosed. Old notes can be exchanged at the banks where the account is held. Those who do not have an account with a bank should contact a local bank. However, those who are unable to exchange notes at banks should approach the Central Bank of Qatar.

Visitors from abroad can also exchange notes. For this, foreigners can approach local banks or the Central Bank of Qatar. When they come to exchange notes, they should have a disclosure document from the Customs General Authority at the entrance of the country.

Local banks have informed customers that old banknotes can still be withdrawn from bank branches as per the instructions of the Central Bank of Qatar.
