Textiles and Jute Minister Jahangir Kabir Nanak stated there’s a shortfall of 4 lakh metric tonnes of yarn in comparison with the requirement for making garments.

The minister stated that when it comes to exports of ready-made clothes, the demand for woolen and denim materials is about 8 billion meters. Of that, 4 billion meters are produced domestically and 4 billion meters are imported. When it comes to export of ready-made clothes, the online yarn demand is about 1.6 lakh metric tons. Out of this, 12 lakh metric tonnes of yarn is produced within the nation and there’s a shortfall of about 4 lakh metric tonnes, which is imported.

He stated that the Directorate of Textiles below the Ministry of Textiles and Jute is registering the textile trade as a garment authority. Because of the simplification of providers by the Garment Authority, industrial entrepreneurs are organising new textile and yarn manufacturing industries within the nation. Consequently, scarcity of woolen and denim materials for export of readymade clothes will step by step cut back.

The minister additionally stated that at present the annual demand for textiles within the nation’s market is about 7 billion meters. There isn’t any scarcity of fabric within the native market.
