Foreign Ministry: Flare-up in Ukraine could be quick and difficult

Following an assessment of the situation in the Foreign Ministry and a series of talks held by the Director General of the Foreign Ministry with relevant parties at the Munich Conference and the events in eastern Ukraine, the Foreign Ministry again calls on Israeli citizens in Ukraine to leave the country immediately.

In order to assist Israeli citizens, the Foreign Ministry has decided to leave Ambassador Michael Brodecki and the embassy staff in Kiev for the time being and tomorrow (Sunday) to exceptionally open the consular department at the embassy, ​​in order to provide travel documents to citizens in need.

The Foreign Ministry is following developments and also the decisions of the United States and the United Kingdom to evacuate their embassies in Kiev, and move to the city of Lvov, in order to preserve the life of the State of Israel’s emissaries in Ukraine while addressing Israeli citizens.
