Olympic champion, boxer Alexei Tishchenko spoke about the advantages of the Russian mixed style fighter Magomed Ismailov in the upcoming fight with the Nigerian Olanrewaju Durodola. The fight will take place on February 25 as part of the REN TV Fight Club project.
According to him, Ismailov’s strength lies in his endurance, he is able to keep a high pace. At the same time, Tishchenko is convinced that Durodola still has more chances to win. This is due to the fact that the fight will be held according to the rules of boxing, while Ismailov is an MMA fighter.
The athlete stressed that it would be extremely difficult for a Russian to win. In his opinion, in order to win, Ismailov needs to properly distribute forces and use his experience in MMA.
“Don’t flail, don’t speed up the pace, clinch more and impose dirty boxing so that there is more fight and fuss. Because of his experience in MMA, he is more accustomed to this work, ”Tishchenko told Izvestia.
Earlier in the day, boxer Edgar Ghukasyan said he believes in Ismailov’s victory. The athlete is convinced that the Russian will do something non-standard in the ring.
On February 18, the fighters met face to face for the first time at a press conference at the Izvestia Information Center. The journalists learned from Ismailov what he felt when he saw Durodola at a striking distance. The athlete appreciated the physical data of his opponent, recognizing that Durodola has big fists.
Durodola, in turn, also commented on his opponent’s fighting skills. According to the Nigerian, Ismailov is strong and fights aggressively, but the fight will be held according to the rules of boxing, so that the opponent “cannot strike with his elbow, neither press down nor break.”
