Northern District police launched rapid operations that included deployment of checkpoints, searches and extensive intelligence activity and managed to capture six suspects from the village of Tuba Zangaria while driving in two vehicles near the Amiad junction.

Tonight, at the end of Shabbat, the suspects were brought to court to discuss the police’s request to extend their detention. At the same time, police forces, members of the Hashomer Hahadash organization, scouts and soldiers conducted extensive searches in several areas in the Galilee where the investigation raised suspicions that the weapons had been hidden. After a while, the stolen weapons were found being removed under bushes and rocks in an open area in the area.

According to the suspicion, the weapons, most of which were in good condition, were sterilized so that they could not fire, but were intended for re-use for criminal activity. Weapons found: mortar, two maggots, an RPG projectile, three “cylinder” rifles, sniper weapons, an “Uzi” submachine gun, a “carbine” weapon and an M-16 rifle.

Police have made it clear that all weapons, which have historical and sentimental value, will be returned to the museum.
