The return of the Starliner spacecraft to Earth from the Worldwide Area Station with its first crew of astronauts has been delayed till June 26, Reuters reported, citing an official NASA announcement on Tuesday.
The brand new return delay is meant to “give our crew somewhat extra time to take a look at the info, do some evaluation and ensure we’re actually prepared to come back house,” stated Steve Stich, head of the industrial crew program of NASA.
Astronauts Butch Wilmore and Sunny Williams had been launched aboard the Boeing Firm’s Starliner on June 5 and arrived on the ISS after a 24-hour flight throughout which the spacecraft encountered 4 helium leaks and 5 failures on 28 are maneuverable engines.
NASA plans to return to Earth no sooner than June 26, leaving room for extra time on the ISS. Starliner, though designed for future six-month missions, can stay hooked up to the ISS for a most of 45 days throughout its present mission.
