Dindigul:

Vote counting centers

Elections for 478 urban local bodies were held in Dindigul district yesterday. 894 electronic voting machines and control devices were used throughout the district for voting. Later in the evening, when the voting was over, the electronic voting machines and control devices were ‘sealed’.

The ballot machines were then obtained polling station wise and taken to 11 counting centers set up in the district with police security led by 60 zonal officers at gunpoint. The voting machines used in the Dindigul Corporation were placed at the Dindigul Annamalaiyar Girls’ High School.

Collector inspection

Meanwhile, District Election Officer and Collector Visakhan went to the counting center at midnight the day before yesterday. He then inspected the electronic voting machines and control devices that were safely placed there.

Is the surveillance work being carried out properly in the Collector Control Room which then visited the surveillance cameras installed around the room where the electronic voting machines are kept? Examined that. The Collector then instructed the concerned authorities on the arrangements to be made on the day of counting of votes.

The Collector also directed the concerned authorities to make security arrangements at the counting centers across the district. Police Superintendent Srinivasan and officers were present during the inspection.
