In the urban local government elections in the integrated Vellore district, more than 80 per cent voting took place in the municipalities of Bennath Thur, Tiruvalam, Ammur, Vilapakkam, Thimiri, Takkolam, Natrampalli and Panappakkam. Women voted more than men.

Voting in the urban local body elections in Vellore district took place on the heels of yesterday. Voting began at 7 a.m. and ended at 6 p.m. Voting was delayed until 7 pm in a few places due to a malfunction in the electronic voting machine.

Vellore district has 1 corporation, 2 municipalities and 4 municipalities. Of these, 2 lakh 78 thousand 156 are males, 3 lakh 162 are females and 72 are of the third gender with a total electorate of 5 lakh 78 thousand 390.

Of these, 1 lakh 87 thousand 883 men, 1 lakh 97 thousand 780 women and 3 lakh 85 thousand 674 people including 11 persons of the third gender have cast their votes. Women are more likely to vote than men.

65.50 per cent in Vellore Municipal Corporation, 67.35 per cent in Gudiyatham, 63.62 per cent in Peranampattu, 78.78 per cent in Odukkathur, 77.76 per cent in Pallikonda, 81.65 per cent in Pennathur and 80.78 per cent in Tiruvalam. Votes Are reported.

Ranipettai District

Ranipettai district has 6 municipalities and 8 municipalities. Voting for the 407 wards took place yesterday. Of these, 1 lakh 60 thousand 803 men, 1 lakh 73 thousand 326 women, 16 third gender total 3 lakh 34 thousand 45 voters were eligible to vote.

However, in the urban local elections only 1 lakh 17 thousand 422 men, 1 lakh 23 thousand 898 women and 5 third genders out of a total of 2 lakh 41 thousand 325 voters had cast their votes.

Of this, 62.20 per cent in Arakkonam municipality, 72.89 per cent in Arcot municipality, 73.9 per cent in Ranipettai municipality, 71.73 per cent in Cholingar municipality, 83.59 per cent in Amur municipality and 82.94 per cent. The turnout was 80.44 per cent in Panappakkam, 82.12 per cent in Takkolam, 83.09 per cent in Thiri and 85.95 per cent in Vilapakkam.

Tirupati District

Tirupati district has 4 municipalities and 3 municipalities. Voting for the 171 wards took place yesterday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Of these, 1 lakh 51 thousand 745 men, 1 lakh 63 thousand 389 women, 67 third gender total 3 lakh 15 thousand 201 voters were eligible to vote. However, in the urban local government elections held the day before yesterday, only 1 lakh 5 thousand 291 men, 1 lakh 10 thousand 850 women and 15 third genders in total only 2 lakh 16 thousand 156 people voted.

Accordingly, the turnout was 72 per cent in Tirupati municipality, 77 per cent in Jolarpettai municipality, 66 per cent in Vaniyambadi municipality, 65 per cent in Ambur municipality, 65 per cent in Alangayam municipality, 78 per cent in Udayendram municipality and 85 per cent in Nattrampalli municipality.

In the urban local body elections held in Vellore, Ranipettai and Tirupattur districts, women are more likely to vote for men than women.
