The North Atlantic Council has determined to nominate Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte as the subsequent Secretary Basic of NATO, succeeding Jens Stoltenberg. Rutte will take up his duties from 1 October, when Stoltenberg’s mandate expires after ten years on the helm of the Alliance.
