/ The US envoy, Amos Hochstein, stated on Monday in Beirut that “a diplomatic answer is the one manner out” to cease the escalation between Lebanon and Israel “after about 5 months of just about day by day cross-border shelling between the 2 sides.”
He stated throughout a press convention: “The USA believes {that a} diplomatic answer is the one manner out to finish the present hostilities,” including that “a brief ceasefire will not be sufficient.”
He added that if a “restricted battle” broke out throughout Lebanon’s southern border, it will not be “containable.”
Hochstein is on a one-day go to to Beirut as a part of diplomatic efforts to cease the alternate of fireplace between the Lebanese Hezbollah group and Israel.
The Hezbollah group, allied with Iran, has been exchanging fireplace with Israel for months in parallel with the battle in Gaza.
This represents the worst battle throughout Lebanon’s southern border because the 2006 battle, elevating fears of a bigger confrontation.
