Former AIADMK minister Jayakumar has been arrested in connection with the attack on a DMK executive.
Urban local body elections were held across Tamil Nadu last Saturday.
The DMK executive’s favorite AIADMK-winner, who allegedly tried to drive illegally in Raipuram on Saturday, beat him in the presence of former minister Jayakumar, took off his shirt and tied his hands.
He was then taken to the road and handed over to the police. The video of the incident went viral on social media.
Based on a complaint lodged by Naresh, a member of the DMK, 40 people, including former minister Jayakumar, were charged under eight sections, including assault.
Meanwhile, police have arrested former AIADMK minister Jayakumar at his Pattinapakkam residence in connection with the attack on a DMK executive.
It has been reported that the arrested Jayakumar will be produced before a judge in Chennai Egmore.
