A complaint was lodged by the victim’s father at the Vattavalai police station yesterday. Bhikkhu Vattavalai has been arrested by the police in connection with the incident.
Police are working to bring him to court today. The victim boy has been admitted to Dikoya Klangan Hospital.
It was in this context that an attention-grabbing protest was launched demanding justice for the boy and urging him to ensure the safety of other minors and for appropriate legal action to be taken against the monk.
Protesters marched on Templestowe’s garden, carrying banners and chanting slogans. There they sat in front of the temple and led the struggle.
They also appealed to the police in this regard. This monk does not belong to the region anymore. We are not saying no to monks. The plantation people said that they were saying no to such a monk.
