Tamil Nadu urban local body elections were held on the 19th in a single phase.

Elections were held for 21 corporations, 138 municipalities and 489 municipalities.

The turnout was 61 per cent in 1,369 wards in the corporation area, 3,824 wards in the municipal area and 7,408 wards in the municipal area for a total of 12,601 wards.

AIADMK candidate Bakrudeen has won the 15th ward of Madurai Ezhumalai municipality by a margin of one vote. Similarly, the BJP has won the 3rd ward of the old Jayankonda Cholapuram municipality in Karur by a margin of one vote.
