In the shadow of the crisis: Lapid spoke with Israel’s ambassador to Ukraine

Against the background of the worsening of the crisis in Ukraine and the growing fear of a Russian invasion, Foreign Minister Yair Lapid spoke today (Tuesday) with the Israeli Ambassador to Ukraine Michael Brodsky. At the same time it was reported that the embassy staff had completed the evacuation of the building in Kiev, when all the workers had recently arrived in the city of Lvov.

In the conversation, Lapid emphasized that the preservation of the State of Israel’s emissaries and the citizens of Israel in Ukraine, as well as the large Jewish community in the country, are at the top of the priorities of the State of Israel. Lapid added and thanked Ambassador Brodsky and the entire embassy staff and the Foreign Ministry staff for their accurate and smooth assessments and execution of the evacuation process.

The Foreign Ministry said that “the embassy staff has joined the staff of the Temporary Consular Office, which was established in the city of Lvov last week and will continue to provide assistance to Israelis in need. The Foreign Ministry reiterates its call on all Israeli citizens to leave Ukraine immediately.”

It was also said that in a state of affairs held this morning at the Foreign Ministry headed by Minister Lapid, Lapid expressed his appreciation to the neighbors of Ukraine, Poland, Hungary, Romania, Slovakia and Moldova for responding to Israel’s request to allow Israeli citizens to cross land borders.
