With its 14th participation, Morocco will be the country of honor for the 21st edition, which will be held from May 15 to 17 at the Palais des Congrès in Montreal. Some 18 national exhibitors will take part in this platform of excellence and offer an immersive experience, through authentic and innovative products.
A true crossroads of innovation in the field, “SIAL Canada” brings together key players in the international agri-food industry to discover the latest market trends, boost exports and form strategic partnerships.
“The Kingdom of Morocco is back at SIAL Canada, the leading trade fair for the Canadian agri-food industry, to highlight the quality, sustainability and diversity of the Moroccan exportable supply of agri-food and fishery products,” underlines El Mehdi El Alami, Director of Promotion and Development of Morocco Foodex.
“This participation as a country of honor constitutes a major opportunity to ensure the influence of Origin Morocco and to strengthen the position of the Kingdom as an agri-food producer and exporter,” notes Mr. El Alami, quoted in a press release.
Morocco Foodex will organize numerous culinary demonstrations throughout the show, and is planning a whole program of B2B meetings between Moroccan exhibitors and Canadian buyers.
This partnership dynamic strengthens trade ties between the two countries. The evolution of bilateral trade is supported by significant figures: in 2022, the value of Moroccan agri-food exports to Canada reached 1.5 billion dirhams, marking a notable increase of 47% compared to 2019, and 26% compared to 2021. The agri-food sector represented, in 2022, a share in value of 63%, compared to Morocco’s total exports to this North American market.
With promising prospects for the future, the Kingdom’s participation promises, according to Morocco Foodex, to be an “exceptional showcase to highlight national know-how and unveil new opportunities for partnership and cooperation.”
