“At the initiative of the Moroccan National Tourist Office, tourism professionals from the National Tourism Confederation, whether they are hoteliers, travel agents, restaurateurs or guides, as well as the Presidents of the Regional Tourism Councils of all the regions of the Kingdom have given their voice to a video in which they remind the global tourism industry that the Moroccan tourism sector continues to operate normally and that all professionals in the sector are mobilized to ensure that the tourist experience is guaranteed for all tourists,” said a press release from the Office.
This is a strong video, full of hope and carrying strong values which reminds us that the Moroccan tourism sector is a structured sector, aware of its responsibilities and ready to take up all challenges so that their missions are carried out with the highest standards, underlines the ONMT.
According to the same source, the ONMT, the day after the earthquake, put in place a series of measures to deal with the repercussions on the tourism sector.
The Office has thus held constant discussions with the supervisory ministry, the National Tourism Confederation and all Moroccan professionals in order to initially manage tourists present in Morocco and current arrivals.
In a second step, the ONMT contacted all of its foreign partners, whether they are tour operators, airlines, national travel associations, all of the issuing markets, etc., in order to reassure them about the situation in Morocco and to maintain continuity.
This initiative is already beginning to bear fruit since the vast majority of partners have committed to maintaining all their operations in Morocco.
At the same time, the ONMT has set up several news flashes for Moroccan operators to keep them informed in real time of developments in the situation in the main issuing markets.
The Office also recalls that a working session was held at the headquarters of the Ministry of Tourism in Rabat, under the chairmanship of Fatim-Zahra Ammor, Minister of Tourism, Handicrafts and Social and Solidarity Economy, in the presence of Adel El Fakir, Director General of the ONMT as well as tourism professionals in order to implement the High Royal Guidelines with a view to supporting the populations affected by the earthquake and dealing with its consequences on the tourism sector.
“The ONMT will continue to take all necessary actions to limit the impact and restore the recovery in which the tourism sector was engaged,” the press release concludes.
