The prevention operations, following the instructions of the Police Chief and carried out by the operational units of the Police Headquarters, the POLFER, the Local Police and the Crime Prevention Unit of the State Police (specialized support), had an intense weekend: over 40 people were checked.
Among the others checked, it is worth mentioning the recently released prisoner from the Bolzano prison for a very long series of crimes, such as robbery, resisting a public official, drug dealing, aggravated theft, threats, aggravated personal injury, brawl, damage, carrying of weapons or objects capable of causing offence and receiving stolen goods, such JM, 37-year-old Moroccan illegal immigrant in Italywas taken to the Police Headquarters by a crew from the State Police “Flying Squad” and placed at the disposal of the Immigration Office, before being expelled.
In particular, the Agents paid attention to the areas of Via Museo, Via Alto Adige, Via dei Cappuccini, Via Perathoner, Via Garibaldi, Vicolo San Giovanni, the Railway Station and the surrounding streets, as well as the streets of Old Town.
Specifically, prevention and monitoring interventions were also carried out at the Twenty and Centrum Shopping Centres, and some abandoned buildings were inspected. Climb Sant’Osvaldo, in Via Grandi and in Via Flavonalready the scene of similar police operations carried out in recent weeks, as well as the areas near the Laurin Parking, Along Talvera and Along Isarcoreported by citizens, also through YouPol, the official App of the State Police, as meeting places for homeless individuals, sometimes illegally present on our national territory, also used as a point of reference for the carrying out of illegal activities.
In these contexts, 3 individuals with multiple criminal convictions were identified, residing in other municipalities and without any reason to justify their presence in Bolzano; the Police Chief issued them with an equal number of Mandatory Expulsion Orders with a ban on returning to the capital city of Bolzano for the next 4 years.
During the checks carried out on the sidelines of the Isarco River clear traces of the use of these places as makeshift bivouacs have been detected and removed. This type of check is aimed at keeping these areas monitored, in order to avoid the consolidation of critical situations for public order and safety.
The recap
Overall – even during the 5 checkpoints carried out along the roads leading to the city – 11 public establishments, 63 vehicles and 249 people were checked, of which 79 were foreigners and 106 with criminal and/or police records.
The result was 4 Mandatory Way Outs (from the Municipality of Bolzano) against persons burdened by criminal and/or police records, who were found without appreciable reason and in unjustified circumstances in the municipal territory.
4 Oral Notices (Preventive Measure provided for by the Anti-Mafia Law Code) against an equal number of Italian and foreign citizens who demonstrate a marked social dangerousness due to criminal and/or police records for crimes of various kinds, including crimes against the person, drug-related crimes, or crimes against property.
5 Expulsion Decrees / Orders of Removal from the National Territory against an equal number of non-EU citizens who, during the checks, were found to be irregular in Italy and with criminal and/or police records against them. Following the investigations carried out by the Immigration Office, the Police Chief issued an equal number of removal decrees, ordering these people to leave the territory within 7 days; if they do not comply, they will be reported to the Public Prosecutor’s Office and forcibly escorted to their country of origin.
