“The accused was taken into custody on the grounds of pretrial detention and escape, as he is at risk of a high criminal rate due to the qualification – the crime of attempted murder. There is a fear that he could continue his actions,” said supervising prosecutor of the Regional Court in Hradec Králové Lukáš Hrubý.
“The accused filed a complaint against this decision on the spot,” said judge Karel Gobernac, who ruled on custody.
The accused testified before the court, but due to the ongoing investigation, the public prosecutor did not want to disclose any details about the case. “From my point of view, the whole incident happened for a completely negligible reason,” said Judge Gobernac.
The accused faces ten to eighteen years in prison. Moreover, he fired from an illegally held weapon. The police have not yet commented on the motive of the crime. The shooter was arrested by the police about two hours after the attack. They also searched for him with the help of a helicopter with thermal imaging.
