BOLZANO. The intervention of the police officers was undoubtedly fundamental for the future of a 37-year-old who, during the night between Saturday and Sunday, had tried to throw himself from the Drusus Bridge: the psychophysical condition, at first glance, seemed totally distorted. It was precisely his state that attracted the attention of the officers, mainly his screams.
The man, after throwing his bicycle to the ground, had hoisted himself onto the parapet of the bridge and then hung from a lamppost, threatening to end it all: the police tried to calm him down, only to then pull him off the bridge in a moment of distraction.
The aggressive reaction and the attempted escape induced the officers to block him and then hand him over to the health workers, transporting him to the Hospital of the city.
“A person in very serious psychological and physical difficulty was saved thanks to the prompt and effective intervention of the Police Officers on duty in the “Flying Squad” – highlighted the Police Chief of the Province of Bolzano Paul Sartori –. I would like to personally and publicly commend the professionalism and sensitivity shown by the Police officers also on this occasion: let us not forget that the State Police is at the service of the citizen, and helping them, rescuing them and rescuing them in the most difficult situations represents one of the absolute priorities for our Institution”.
