The city of N’zérékoré is to host a major football event from June 30 to August 7, 2024. This tournament is named after Germain Tavaguez Kolié, president of the Higher Council of the Forest Diaspora.
There are a total of 10 local teams, including two from Koulé and Lola, who will compete. The participating teams each received their sets of jerseys this Saturday in the governorate conference room.
Speaking on this occasion, the donor, Germain Tavaguez Kolié, returned to the reasons which pushed him to organize this tournament.
“I am now the president of the Higher Council of the Forest Diaspora. And we cannot leave this position without having an impact on our region. So, this is why we said that we must support the informal championship of N’zérékoré because sport is the element of unity that exists that is within our reach that we can use to strengthen social cohesion in our region. I had made a commitment with the vice president of the district that I would do so in order to support football. The sets of jerseys were initially offered to the teams. What I can tell you today is that you support us so that this championship succeeds for the happiness of all. The forest must have a good image on all levels. And sport is an opportunity that we must support,” said Germain Tavaguez Kolié.
For his part, the president of the regional football league, Moriba Albert Delamou, welcomed the donor. For him, the promotion of the informal championship will allow the forest region to make its return to the elite of Guinean football.
“On behalf of all the structures of the forest region, we thank our brother for this support which goes straight to the heart. This change will bring a boost to several teams so that one day we can say that Diani de N’zerekoré plays in the first division, or even Macenta, Beyla Yomou and Gecukeodou. That is our wish. That is our objective. And I know and I am aware that all of you who are sitting, that is your objective. And we will therefore support this initiative and encourage others to do the same,” explained the president of the regional football league.
For his part, the governor’s chief of staff who presided over this presentation, on behalf of the governor, welcomed the organization of this championship. Because according to him, this championship will contribute not only to consolidating football in the region and consolidating peace.
It should be noted that the kick-off of this championship which brings together 10 teams is scheduled for this Sunday, June 30 at the April 3 stadium in N’zérékoré. The teams of Koulé and FC Zogo are due to face each other.
