A few months ago, Florian Wirtz made headlines with a culinary ranking. The footballer’s words are now set to conquer the charts.
Florian Wirtz recently revealed his culinary preferences for the DFB’s TikTok channel. In the video, various potato dishes are shown above the athlete’s head. The 21-year-old then has to rank his favorite dishes. When a potato appears on his forehead, the midfielder makes a quick decision: “Normal potatoes on the 1,” is his verdict.
The video went viral, with over 490,600 likes on TikTok alone. Party singer Julian Sommer also noticed the clip: He sees potential in it for the next Ballermann hit.
Julian Sommer was already able to score a success in 2022 with “Dicht im Flieger”: The song is still being played on the Mallorcan party mile two years later. In 2024, however, the musician wants to score points with a different song: Florian Wirtz’s legendary saying forms the basis. “Normale Kartoffel auf die 1” can be heard in the chorus, the bass booms in the background. An excerpt of the song can already be heard on YouTube.
For Julian Sommer, his song “Normale Kartoffel auf die #1” is a tribute to the footballer. The singer really likes the DFB star: “Florian Wirtz is the future of the German national team! A young and very talented player who has now become a social media meme thanks to a TikTok. I hope he also sees the song as a joke,” Sommer told the dpa news agency.
Florian Wirtz has not yet commented on the song. He is not the first national player to be responsible for a party hit. A track has also been dedicated to his colleague Niclas Füllkrug: “Füllkrug mit Bier, wir werden König von Europa” (Füllkrug with beer, we will become king of Europe), says the song “Füllkrug” by Aditotoro and Paulomuc. The Borussia Dortmund striker finds the title “amusing and funny”. It makes him “a little proud too”.
