WatchOS 11 does not run on these Apple Watches

by time news

Like every fall, Apple will launch a new version of its watchOS wearable operating system in 2024. And as happens practically every time, support for certain older models is no longer available with the new version of the OS – and faster than in the case of the iPhone and iOS. This year it meets the Apple Watch Series 4 from 2018, the Series 5 from 2019 and the SE 1 from 2020. The last two models work with the SoC S5, which is likely to be the reason for the end of popular support. With the same consideration, it can be assumed that Series 6, 7, 8, Ultra 1 and SE 2 will also be out of the race at the same time, as they are all equipped with the same SoC.

2024 will be the first time Apple will pull out three Apple Watch models from the race at the same time. So far there have been one or two generations at most. For example, WatchOS 5 no longer ran on the Apple Watch Series 0, and WatchOS 7 left the Series 1 and 2 models out in the cold. Apple did not guarantee several years of support for new versions of the operating system with the Apple Watch, unlike the iPhone, which has official support for at least five years. (ubi)
