(24News) President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev will pay a two-day official visit to Pakistan next week.
According to diplomatic sources, the President of Azerbaijan will visit Pakistan on the 11th and 12th of this month along with a high-level delegation.
The President of Azerbaijan was invited to visit by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif during his visit to Baku. During the visit, President Ilham Aliyev will meet with his counterpart Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
According to diplomatic sources, several memorandums of understanding are expected to be signed between the two countries. Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Jehan Biramov visited Pakistan in May to finalize matters regarding the visit of the President of Azerbaijan.
Azerbaijan’s Deputy Foreign Minister is present in Pakistan to finalize the MoUs and agreements expected in this visit, Samir Sharifov will leave for home tomorrow.
Significant progress has been made in terms of mutual preferential trade agreement between the two countries. Diplomatic sources say that Pakistan-Azerbaijan preferential trade agreement is expected to be signed soon. There will be discussions on connectivity, tourism, IT, trade and investment.
During President Ilham Aliyev’s visit to Pakistan, various ministries will offer investment opportunities of 2 to 3 billion dollars to Azerbaijan. Last year, 55,000 Pakistanis visited Azerbaijan. Improvements in available opportunities and resources are ongoing.
