UNAM denounces occupation of facilities

The National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) denounced the illegal seizure of the facilities of the General Directorate of the College of Sciences and Humanitiesthe Area Academic Councils and the General Budget Directorate, at the University City.

He accused five students of CCH Naucalpan, to students from other academic institutions, as well as to masked persons outside of said educational institution.

The National University indicated that it presented a report of facts against whoever is responsible for the illegal retention of the aforementioned facilities, as well as for any damage that may have been caused to the university’s assets, and will provide the evidence at its disposal for the ID of the occupants.

It will also act in accordance with internal disciplinary procedures.

He noted that “currently there is no reason for the continuation of this arbitrary manner with the takeover of the university facilities, since the security problem at the CCH Naucalpan is being duly addressed through the dialogue tables programmed with the campus community.”

He explained that “during recent weeks, three different dialogue tables have been held with the CCH Naucalpan community, in which concrete actions were agreed upon to improve the security conditions in the place”.

He added that “with the purpose of combating the violent groups that mainly threaten high school campuses, an Interinstitutional Coordination group was formed, including College of Bachelorshe National Polytechnic Institute and this educational institution, which allows for the coordination of actions with local governments aimed at combating these criminal groups.”

In addition, with the participation of authorities from the State of Mexico and the municipality of Naucalpan, Together with representatives from the Rector’s Office, the General Management of the CCH and the campus itself, a tour was conducted along the safe path, which the students who are improperly occupying the facilities unilaterally decided not to attend.

UNAM demanded the immediate return of the illegally occupied facilities to avoid further damage to university assets, and considering that there is openness in the participation of the CCH Naucalpan community in the dialogue tables.
