Goheung-gun will open its beaches on July 13. Goheung-gun (Governor Gong Yeong-min) has completed preparations to welcome tourists during the hot summer season and will open 11 beaches in the county, including Namyeol Haedoori Beach, on the 13th for full-scale operation.
Swimming hours at the beach, which will be open until August 15, will be from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and 53 lifeguards will be deployed to ensure the safety of visitors.
Namyeol Haedoori Beach, the best resort on the southern coast, is home to a pine forest that provides a comfortable resting place and the Goheung Space Launch Observatory, which offers a spectacular view of the Dadohae Sea. Yongdong and Pungryu Beaches are also very popular with tourists due to their beautiful scenery of Goheung Bay and various convenient facilities such as camping sites and small parks.
In addition, Naro Space and Yeompo Beaches are popular with families as they are home to the Nuriho launch vehicle, which boasts South Korea’s space history, and the Naro Space Center Space Science Museum. Yeonso, Ikgum, and Geumjang Beaches are also popular with visitors as they offer a panoramic view of Geumgang Island’s coastal scenery.
Meanwhile, the military has renovated restrooms, drinking fountains, shower rooms, and other amenities to provide visitors with a clean and comfortable resting space, and has also established an organic cooperative system with the Yeosu Marine Police Station and Goheung Fire Station, in addition to conducting risk assessment services and training water safety personnel to ensure safe water play.
A military official said, “Once the real heat begins, we expect a large number of visitors to visit the beaches in our jurisdiction,” and added, “We will do our best to prevent even a single accident by strengthening safety inspections of facilities.”
