The national energy independence strategy foresees that in 2050 Lithuania will need 4 GW electricity storage facilities. Electricity storage capacity in 2030 will reach 1.5 GW.

It should be noted that the permitted generation capacity of solar and wind power plants already operating in Lithuania is currently 2.8 GW and constitutes about half of the country’s total electricity generation capacity.
