As reported by the Ministry of Energy, private and public legal entities that already have or are planning to install solar or wind power plants will be able to apply for support for an electricity storage device with a capacity of 4 MWh or more.
It is planned that by 2026 at least 400 MWh storage facilities will be connected to renewable energy power plants by the end of the year.
The national energy independence strategy foresees that in 2050 Lithuania will need 4 GW electricity storage facilities. Electricity storage capacity in 2030 will reach 1.5 GW.
It should be noted that the permitted generation capacity of solar and wind power plants already operating in Lithuania is currently 2.8 GW and constitutes about half of the country’s total electricity generation capacity.
Currently, 4,294 unique legal entities in the country manage 15,000 properties. producing consumer objects.
The Ministry also reminds that private and public sector legal entities can use the currently valid almost 600 million. EUR support invitations to install solar or wind power plants or purchase them from parks administered by INVEGA.
