AU Executive Council: Education stands as central pillar in HM the King’s vision for development (Moroccan delegation)
Addis Ababa – Education stands as a central pillar in the far-sighted vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI for development, the Moroccan delegation said on Wednesday before the 44th ordinary session of the Executive Council of the African Union (AU) in Addis Ababa.
“Education stands as a central pillar in the far-sighted vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI for development. It is for this reason that the Kingdom has put in place ambitious national strategies for the development of education and learning and has also based its South-South cooperation model mainly on vocational and academic training programs for young Africans, given that the strengthening of their capacities remains a prerequisite for the success of all our continental development strategies,” the delegation stressed.
In view of the alarming statistics regarding the state of education in Africa, the delegation “is asking itself the question concerning the future that awaits our future generations, at a time when other regions of the world have reached very advanced stages in the field of education and learning, notably through a combination of human and artificial intelligence”.
She added that given the strategic importance of education in the development of the continent, “we are all called upon to resolutely commit ourselves during this year so that our collective action is targeted and fruitful to make the much-desired difference in this area of vital importance.”
The AU Executive Council began its 44th ordinary session in the morning ahead of the Union Summit (17-18 February).
