BOLZANO. This weekend will be the final one for the Südtirol Jazzfestival Alto Adige 2024. It starts Friday July 5th at 11 with a noteworthy matinee concert: the trio of the Leipzig pianist Olga Reznichenko, candidate for the German Jazz Award 2023, will perform in the garden of the Parkhotel Holzner in Soprabolzano.

This mix of late Russian romanticism, minimalism, jazz and classical modernism will be followed by a second concert in a park: at 6 pm the Nils Kugelmann Trio will perform at the Parkhotel Laurin in Bolzano. At 9 pm the group Shake Stew – a great protagonist of Austrian jazz – will propose a mix of afrobeat and jazz in Piazza della Città in Vipiteno. Also at 9 pm the saxophonist Fabian Dudek will present his composition “Day by Day” with a double trio at the Cappuccini Park in Bolzano, while the Belgian band Dishwasher will perform at the 3fiori café & craft beer bar in Bressanone.

The evening will end at 11.30pm with a night concert at the Batzen Sudwerk in Bolzano: the duo Empowered Kindwith drums and electronics, as well as numerous unusual string instruments, will create a multifaceted fusion of sounds.

Saturday 6th July at 11 the festival returns to the mountains: the Austrian trio Haezz will play near the Lago Nero peak on the Corno del Renon. For the aperitif hour, at 6 pm, the band Lunafounded by the Icelandic guitarist Sigurdur Rögnvaldsson, will perform at the Parkhotel Mondschein in Bolzano. Those who missed Dishwasher and Shake Stew will be able to listen to them again the same evening: Shake Stew will perform at 9 pm at the Parco Cappuccini in Bolzano, while Dishwasher will perform at 9 pm in the Silandro music pavilion. At 11.30 pm, the duo Training and the bass player Ruth Goals will play “Cadavre Exquis” at the Batzen Sudwerk in Bolzano, an experiment in which a sentence or drawing is created by several people without knowing what the others have done.

Sunday 7th July we return to the mountains for one of the final concerts: at 11 it will be the Fumagalli trio to perform in front of the Galleria Poschhaus in Ridanna in a spectacular Alpine setting. The final concert will take place at 9 pm at Ca de Bezzi in Bolzano, where the Sweet Life Quartet led by saxophonist Yvonne Moriel will celebrate the festival with a mix of jazz and electronics, dub effects, hip-hop, reggae and elements of world music. Afterwards you can dance and party: at 11 pm the big party begins closing party at Batzen Sudwerk with DJ set Ale Soul & Mr Pyson – free entry.
