Azerbaijan significantly increased its natural gas exports to Turkey in April 2024, achieving a 12.02 percent growth compared to the same period last year, Day.Az reported on Tuesday, citing data released by Turkey’s Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EPDK).
Exports increased from 893.36 million cubic meters in April 2023 to 1.001 billion cubic meters.
Thus, Azerbaijan became the largest exporter of natural gas to Turkey in the reporting period.
Iran came in second place, exporting nearly 543.99 million cubic meters of natural gas, marking a significant decline of 37.25 percent compared to April 2023.
Russia became the third largest exporter with 413.24 million cubic meters of natural gas, down 76.01 percent from April 2023 (1.524 billion cubic meters).
Overall, Turkey has reduced gas imports by 39.85 percent, from over 3.982 billion cubic meters in April 2023 to around 2.395 billion cubic meters in April 2024.
Imports of pipeline gas decreased by 40.38 percent to 1.958 billion cubic meters, while imports of LNG (liquefied natural gas) decreased significantly by 37.37 percent to 437.25 million cubic meters.
