Profile of the new commander general of the Armed Forces
Admiral Francisco Hernando Cubides Granados has an outstanding career in the Colombian Navy. He holds a degree in Naval Engineering and Naval Sciences from the Almirante Padilla Naval Cadet School. He also holds a Master’s Degree in National Security and Defense from the Higher School of War, as well as in International Relations and Conflict Resolution from the American Military University.
Cubides is also a specialist in Human Resources Management and Senior Management from the Nueva Granada Military University and has a diploma in Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law from the Autonomous University of Bucaramanga. In addition, he has completed studies in Senior Management at the Javeriana University.
During his career in the Navy, Admiral Cubides has held various relevant positions, such as Commander of the Pacific Naval Force, Head of the Naval Training, Institution and Education Department, Director of the Almirante Padilla Naval Cadet School and Commander of the Naval Fleet. Since August 12, 2022, he has been in charge of the Command of the Colombian Navy.
