The update of Fritz! OS at five Fritz!Box models from AVM yesterday and today Version 7.90 in Fritz!Labor get. The unfinished update is now also available for the Fritz!Box 7590 AX, Fritz!Box 7590, Fritz!Box 7530 AX, Fritz!Box 7530 and also for the Fritz!Box 4060.
For the Fritz!Box 4060 it is the first lab version of the new firmware version, and for the other models it is an update with improvements to a previously released test version. The Fritz!Box 4060, which went on sale in 2020, still runs Fritz! Regular OS version 7.59, so it’s missing the last major updates Fritz!OS 7.80 yet.
Among the new features of Fritz! OS 7.90 has the following points:
- A new online monitor provides information about Internet connection usage and individual network device usage
- User interface: graphical representation of the connection status of the FRITZ Box! on the overview (home page)
- Internet: IPv6 data transmission through Wireguard VPN tunnel
- Mesh: A graphical overview with a new design and additional functions
- Assigning names to devices in the guest network
- Icons for home network devices and name changes were assigned directly in the graphical overview of the home network
- More details about the LAN connections between FRITZ products in the graphic (tooltip)
- DECT: The number of simultaneous DECT phone calls has been increased from three to five

The test version of Fritz!OS 7.90 is available in Fritz Laboratory can be downloaded and installed on your own Fritz!Box via fritz.box in the local network under “System > Update”. However, you should backup the current settings under “System > Backup” first in case there are problems with the beta version.
It is not yet known when the final version of Fritz!OS 7.90 will be released for routers.
