The Ministers of Production, Foreign Trade, Investments and Fisheries, Sonsoles García; and of Labor, Ivonne Nuñez, launched the “Violet Seal”, a pioneering distinction in Latin America that seeks to strengthen the economic, productive and industrial growth of our country with a gender focus.

This certification recognizes public and private companies that stand out in their compliance with the “Organic Law to Promote the Purple Economy,” promoting equal treatment and opportunities in the workplace.

“In Ecuador, the search for equality, equity and justice for women is a long-standing issue and a historical struggle, which in 2022 found its standard-bearer in President Noboa. Ecuador is the first country in Latin America with a Violet Seal and this makes us a benchmark in the creation of policies that promote gender equality at work to build a more just and equitable society,” said Minister Sonsoles García.

The “Violet Seal” will be awarded to public and/or private companies that contribute to the economic, productive and industrial growth of our country, with a focus on gender. With this symbol, companies will have a series of benefits such as technical assistance, training, advice and the opportunity to participate in events, fairs and business meetings on a national and international scale.

“This is a dream come true. This seal will also allow us to incorporate these gender issues into committees and unions. This is part of the profound change that the country needs,” said Caterina Costa, representing the business sector.

For her part, the Minister of Labor, Ivonne Núñez, indicated that, “in a few months we will tell the region that we finally have gender equality in production. We must position all the companies that have incorporated more women into the productive field.”

In this way, the National Government invites all companies to join together and work together to achieve more inclusive and sustainable economic growth, which respects and promotes gender equality in all productive sectors of the country.
