The International Cinema Institute (AIC) also welcomed the director Ricardo Cali for a special film club. The event is part of the AIC’s 20th anniversary celebrations, and will feature a screening of the documentary Moroccan Cinema, followed by a chat with the director. Admission is free to the AIC studio.

Moroccan Cinema tells the story of homeless people, African refugees and Latin American immigrants who are housed in an old cinema in the center of São Paulo, and turn it into a place of art and culture. The film not only records this process of change, but also shows the journey of individuals, who become true movie stars.

The documentary received the prize for the best Documentary at the É Tudo Verdade festival, in 2019, in addition to the Golden Dove in the Next Masters category, awarded by the documentary festival DOK Leipzig, in 2018.

The idea for the film club is to expand the space for debate and exchange of knowledge between film and documentary enthusiasts and those interested in social and cultural issues. Admission is free, open to the public, with screenings at the AIC studio.
